Goldfingers and Bond Girl hair.

My latest mission – from our covent garden hair salon over to the very swish W Hotel in Leicester Square on Tuesday to prepare two guests for their red carpet premiere of Skyfall (can’t say who!). And yes! 007 is a very lucky man.

Bond Girls Bérénice Marlohe and Naomie Harris looked amazing.

It’s clear to me the 21st century Bond Girl look is not so iconic anymore. It’s about what works when you have to backflip off the Shard, shoot baddies, and land feet first into Jimmy Choos without breaking sweat.

That’s not a bad metaphor for what many of us actually do (or try to!) these days. So while we can’t all look like the latest Bond Girl we may often feel like one … in other words a modern day “diva in action” … and we love their 21st century hair.

If you want an iconic Bond Girl look, you really have to go back to the 60s and 70s: Pussy Galore and Honey Ryder’s generation. L’Oreal is calling it “retro-nouveau” for its autumn winter 2012 campaign… a bit of old a bit of new.

Cue Twiggy, Bridget Bardot, Liz Taylor.

And the look… deep rich colours with brighter ends, make-up like it used to be… It’s a throwback to those times, only with a modern more functional twist that fits both work and play.

But in spite of all the glamour, I’m not nostalgic at all for those groundbreaking early Bond Girl days and much prefer the modern versions… natural, long, tousled hair that can easily be worn up or down.

It all depends on what scene we’re trying to make. Who cares if we’re movie stars?

PS: 007s love interests are always a hot topic with each movie (google <this link> You’ll find there are a lot more than you think!) Drop into our london hair salon for a bit of bond style treatment.
