As our athletes push the limits to bring home a medal, we mere mortals watch from the sidelines…..Or maybe not. We may not be able to win Gold on the track or field, but we can sure give it a go in the partying stakes, and what better place to party than London. It’s what us Londoners are good at!
London 2012 is set to be a magnificent event as we welcome competitors and visitors from all over the world. The city will literally be buzzing with activity and people looking for a good time. Bars and clubs from all over town are putting on special party nights over the 2 week extravaganza and we’ve been checking out some of the best.
There’ll be street parties all over, giant outdoor screenings and concerts at Trafalgar Square, Hyde Park and the Olympic Park. We’ve heard rumours of ‘Nightgames’, a secret pop up bar and club celebrating the Olympics with rooftop drinking and a glamorous nightclub atmosphere, opening 26th July.
Apparently Hyde Park is the place to be on Saturday 28th where Tom Jones will be headlining a huge free party to celebrate the start of the games. Two paid-for gigs open and close the celebrations in Hyde Park with Duran Duran headlining on the 27th July, supported by Snow Patrol, Stereophonics and Paolo Nutini. Blur will headline the closing show on August 12th joined by the Specials and New Order. For tickets go to www.btlondon.com.
If you can’t get tickets to one of the big events why not join the thousands of people organising Olympic parties at home. Send out the invites, whack up the music and get in training for some serious socialising. If you’re game, make it a fancy dress party and flash some flesh in a pair of lycra cycling shorts, racer top and of course a pair of on trend trainers…..just hope you’ve been doing your toning exercises! Hand out medals for the best dressed, best abs or simply most fun guest.
We’ve had a cheeky look at some of our GB athletes on a night out to see how the pros do it. Check out Jessica Ennis in this sparkling number and gorgeous locks. We love the way her hair has a golden summer lift and soft, natural waves – very sexy and definitely a winner!
The girls in the hair salon in london are slightly more partial to our home-grown gymnast Louis Smith who scrubs up very nicely for a night on the town. Loving the bold tie Louis! We reckon the red symbolises a seriously smouldering passion beneath the cool exterior…..here’s hoping!
We’d love to know how you’ll be celebrating London 2012. Visit us on Facebook and share all…..keep it clean please!
And of course, if you need a last minute hand to glam up your locks for an Olympic night out be sure to give us a call our top hairdressers covent garden, or simply book an appointment online.
We’ve designed two brand new services just to make sure you’ll be a party finalist:
CROMO: intense shine and tone refresh treatment – great for boosting intense colours or refreshing highlights. It’s a non abrasive colour and adds shine like we’ve never seen before. Price (with blow-dry) from 40.00
Express Hair Up: Our artistic team have devised three looks based around looks seen on the SS12 catwalks. All take just 30 minutes to do. Just pop in with your hair pre-washed and dry and we’ll style away. Price £30.
Look 1: Low Slung Pony Up
An adaptation of our very popular low slung pony. The pony tail is pinned up creating an elegant and easy to wear shape for both day and night as seen at Carolina Herrera. Pair with Leanne’s favourite Chanel Le Vernis 617 Holiday on your nails for the ultimate summer look.
Look 2. Summer Ultime
Loose effortless waves – perfect for balmy summer nights (fingers crossed). This is a classic look with less volume at the roots for a more modern finish – as seen at Burberry and Issa SS 12. Elvinas loves this look paired with skinny cropped trouser, heels and a simple blouse. Big sunglasses a must!
Look 3. Hello, Hal-O
A mussier take on the classic halo braid as seen at Valentino SS 12, this adds a youthful but chic summer look to any outfit. It’s playful and grown up all-in-one. Hair is braided all around the head and loosely teased out for a soft, easy-to-wear look.
